Guys, These 4th of July Threads Are Sure to Cause Fireworks.

Guys, These 4th of July Threads Are Sure to Cause Fireworks.

I consider the 4th of July my favorite holiday, and every year I always face the same predicament, what to wear to the cookouts that I am invited to? Should I dress like a Ralph Lauren ad, looking like I stepped straight out of the Hamptons? Perhaps a swimsuit is the key? After attending my fair share of barbecues and scouring the racks at many fashion retailers, I have picked the top five items that all men should sport at their 4th of July functions this year.

1. Neutral colored tank top - Let's face it, the 4th of July always seems to fall on the hottest day of the year and who wants to be sporting a heavy shirt in these heats? A neutral colored tank top will keep you cool and on your game at your cookout.
2. Standout deck shorts - No one wants to be the wallflower at a cookout. A bright-colored pair of deck shorts will allow you to standout from the crowd without making an overstatement. The neutral tank will buffer the bright color of the shorts.
3. Boat shoes - Nothing says Americana like a pair of boat shoes, and what perfect holiday to sport one of America's favorite footwear? I suggest a neutral or single colored pair, however if you feel daring, go with a multi-colored pair. Just make sure that they fall into the same shades as your ensemble.
4. Shades - On one of the hottest days of the year, nothing says cool like a pair of sunglasses. They add just a touch of mystery to the look as well as give you that James Dean/Americana look.
5. Fedora - Nothing tops off a 4th of July look like the perfect headpiece. Fedoras are trendy, lightweight hats that allow you to standout from the crowd. They give you that fashion forward look, while protecting your scalp at the same time.
